This 7×10” custom handcrafted snare drum is built from 6 plies of 100% Hard Maple. Like all of our UltraThin Reso Series snare drums, this one is built with a raw Nordic shell for a thin and resonant wood vibe and is custom finished by us here at Seven Six Drums. I gave this drum a second air vent to coax a little more dryness and power from the drum, as well.
As for the finish, I was in Rio de Janeiro recently and spent a lot of time on the beach at Ipenema. The hazy blue sky just before sunset was so peaceful as samba music played everywhere and I wanted to mimic that sky in a drum finish. I applied a teal-blue stain, but made sure some of the natural wood shown through to mimic the haziness of the sky in Brazil, and topped it off with multiple coats of super durable cutting board wax for a deep matte finish. This drum has:
offset 45 degree bearing edges.
