This 8x14” handcrafted custom snare drum is optimized for being a fat, sexy beast, so it has a thin 1/3" pure Curly White Oak shell. Bearing edges are roundover to 30 degrees for maximum shell/head contact. While many manufacturers use multiple plies of lesser quality wood glued together to create thickness, and then top it off with a pretty outer ply to dress it up, ALL of Seven Six Drum Co's drums are solid wood, made of the featured species through and through. This Curly White Oak’s was quite pricey, and its featuring and curl is so pretty, I wanted this drum to feature that grain with a real tactile sense, so I topped it off with 8 coats of durable and beautiful hand-rubbed oil in a semi-gloss finish. This custom snare drum has a huge tuning range and is a beautiful example of figured wood.
