This 7×14” custom snare drum is built from a single solid piece of highly figured Pacific Northwest Walnut. Walnut is a domestic hardwood and this particular piece had so much cool figuring. What you see on the exterior is the same wood you’ll see on the interior - it’s not a veneer - that’s a single thick ply of Cask steam-bent Walnut. This drum has 8 coats of hand-rubbed oil semi gloss clearcoat, is ¼ inch thick with ¼ inch thick reinforcing rings, and roundover to 30 degree bearing edges. This custom snare drum has a huge tuning range and is a beautiful example of figured domestic wood.
