This 7x14” custom snare drum is built from 10 plies (4.9 mm thick) of Bubinga, a very hard African exotic wood with figuring that goes beyond surreal. Seeing this drum in person in the light blows people’s minds. Unlike 99% of our custom snare drums, whose shells are made in-house by hand by us, the UltraThin Reso Series shells are sourced from Minnesota (still built in the United States) and then we do all of the finishing, bearing edges, snare beds, drilling, and assembly by hand. The thin shell and 45 degree offset bearing edge makes for a very resonant drum with a low fundamental note...think FAT. I topped it off with 8 coats of durable and pricey 2K polyester clearcoat finish. This custom snare drum has a huge tuning range and is a beautiful example of figured exotic wood.
