This 7x14” custom snare drum is built from 10 plies (4.9 mm thick) of Bubinga, a very hard African exotic wood with figuring that goes beyond surreal. The outer bly is made from Waterfall Bubinga. Unlike 99% of our custom snare drums, whose shells are made in-house by hand by us, the UltraThin Reso Series shells are sourced from Minnesota (still built in the United States) and then we do all of the finishing, bearing edges, snare beds, drilling, and assembly by hand. Seeing this drum in person in the light blows people’s minds. The thin shell and 45 degree offset bearing edge makes for a very resonant drum with a low fundamental note...think FAT. This drum has a high-build hand-rubbed oil finish, to show off the grain and bring out the lustre. This custom snare drum has a huge tuning range and is a beautiful example of figured exotic wood.
